I was looking for a certain street to take to the automated mailing station today when I found a beautiful hidden park. When I walk downtown from my apartment if I just walk over 2 blocks I can walk through this adorable little park with fountains and mini waterfalls to get down to the city. It really makes the walk so much better and it doesn’t seem quite as long. I walked down today to walk around the city and explore. I think if the weather is nice this weekend I am going to take a ferry ride and go spend an afternoon on an island, maybe even rent a bike. The weather has been so beautiful.

I have been obsessed with getting kichen supplies for my apartment. I kind of wish people had moving out showers after college kind of like wedding showers but without the wedding. It just seems these days couples tend to have most of the stuff by the time they get hitched or maybe its just me. Anyway here are so kitchen items I have drooling over lately.

Things have been really good lately. I made quiche for dinner and it was actually was really good. I realized I needed more kitchen supplies tonight when I was mixing ingredients in a sauce pan.

Today I watched Children of Men and boy was it good. Recently I have given up chewing my nails because it is gross and causes unwanted pain but this movie left me with no nails by the end. I am going to go out and fun seattle tourist activities tomorrow. I have been trying to stay close to home while I waited for various packages to arrive but screw it, tomorrow I am off to explore. Before I go I want to sew a wall organizer from a pattern in a new book I just purchased last week. I usually don’t buy many craft books anymore because I never seem to really use them but I can’t stop looking at this one. It is so inspiring. I love it.

When I shop at the drug store by apartment I always use my debit card. When I swipe it the machine asks for my secret code instead of my pin. I smile everytime because secret code is so much better than pin number. I watched a movie called Happy Endings today and it kept my attention better than most movies I’ve been renting lately.

I wish I had some of this:

WD-40 is a miracle worker. I was so extremely frustrated with my ikea furniture I was considering the use of heavyduty toxic glues in place of the screws that would no longer move. I tried so hard to screw them in the previous night that I woke up with bruises on the palms of my hands and it hurt to make a fist. I wasn’t sure where to find the glue but thought the drug store might have some because the drugstores here to seem to carry just about everything including extension cords and alarm clocks. While browsing the glue section I spotted the WD-40 and thought I’d give it a try since the vice grip pliers I had purchased earlier didn’t work. Well after a liberal spraying I was finally able to put it together. Well except for the last piece because Ikea forgot to deliver that. Hopefully that will arrive in the next couple of days.

I was feeling a little frustrated today and not just with furniture so I went exploring again and had a good time. I returned to the thrift stores and found some fabric and a ton of embroidery hoops. I also finally got a copy of the Reader’s Digest Complete book of Needlecraft, something I have wanted for some time.

Tomorrow I might go down to the DMV and get my washington license. I’m considering using a Flex car. I need to be able to explore the city a little more and maybe make a trip to Jo Ann Fabrics. There are about 10 cars in my neighborhood. I hope I can drive in this city. I’m also planning a trip to the bookstore and the art supply store to get some paint.

Isn’t this little guy cute?

Today I was wasn’t feeling so great. I spent most of the morning unpacking and cleaning up the mess of boxes. I was excited when the ikea delivery guys showed up with my table legs. Unforunately all the parts needed to assemble my sewing table weren’t there. I called and they said it would be shipped in a few days. I can’t wait to start making things again.

I went to the library today and was slightly confused by the set-up. At one point I was even a little lost. I have never been in such a large library. I have big plans for tomorrow including a trip to the hardware store and the post office. A few more pictures including the fake cake I made that survived the shipment.

I made it to Seattle! Last week was very hectic but still super fun. My mom and I made the trip cross-country on Monday and finally arrived on Tuesday. My new apartment is fabulous and I am having a wonderful putting it together. The mailman wheeled in about 15 boxes today. I have so much to unpack and organize. I have all my furniture assembled and now I just need to organize. I spent today walking around and exploring a little even though it was a little rainy. I walked up to value village and a few other thrift stores to get some dishes and a new skirt. I also made it to a fabric store and stopped by jamba juice for a huge smoothie.

I want to share some photos of the apartment. I’ll start with the hallway and a few before photos.

This is my peep hole that you can actually move to look in different directions in the outside hallway, its like a mini telescope.

The last two weeks have been spent packing and visiting with friends. My sister and her husband came for dinner tonight. We had mini lava cakes with mint chocolate chip ice cream and it was delicious. I mailed everything today and surprisely nobody at the post office tried to kill me as my parents wheeled in my boxes. I just hope everything arrives safely. It really didn’t cost nearly as much as I thought it would either.

Tonight I am going to watch a few episodes of Pete and Pete and then get the first full night of sleep in a few days.

Another day another 4 boxes packed. After cleaning out my closet I realized I could really use some new clothes to replace all the clothes I’m getting rid of. So I bought a few new shirts. Tomorrow I am heading out to my storage locker to complete my packing. I will be so happy when everything is boxed up and ready to ship.

New spring clothes.
