I want a backyard April 30, 2007

I couldn’t be any more tired than I am right now yet I’m not quite ready to go to sleep. I can’t believe tomorrow is the last day in April. Time has just been flying by lately. Today I had to wake up early and quickly remembered why I don’t want another 9-5 job anytime soon.  I had a wonderful Sunday afternoon spent at the Fremont market and several thrift shops around the area. I absolutely love that it is finally getting warm out. I had my first ice cream of spring and we got a chance to sit outside in the sunshine and talk. This week I am going to chain myself to my sewing machine and get as much work as possible done.

Today I met with my potential new boss and might be able to work as a dog walker part-time. I think this will be the perfect job for me because it will force me to stick to a schedule and to go out and walk around more. I ‘ve been a crazy sewing hermit the last couple of days. My back is so stiff but I feel like I’m getting to the point where I can work on pricing and organizing for my upcoming show. I’ve been working on a new sign for my table and it is coming along. I will post a photo when its finished.

I also ordered tags today for my bags that I’m so excited to come and my shopping bags should be arriving tomorrow. I want to get some things printed before Renegade such as a new set of business cards and maybe some more cupcake note pads. I need to start making a list! Well I need to get to bed because I have to go to a pet first aid class tomorrow.

I really wish I could bake a pie. I am really in the mood for some homemade apple pie but I don’t own a rolling pie or flour for that matter. I  need to get more kitchen stuff.

I spent today going to the post office which took up way too much time. I’m really interested in finding a way around the 45 minute lines. I’ve tried going at different times of the day but it is always busy!

I also got some sewing done today and have started making some hand-outs for the show next week. I’m getting really excited about it. I ordered fabric for a table cloth today.

Tomorrow is going to be a busy today filled with appointments and errands but I’m hoping to get some fun stuff in there too. I really want to head down to the fabric store again and get a few more things I’m running low on. The fabric store closest to me is a huge warehouse type building filled with all kinds of fabrics and notions. Needless to say I absolutely love it and can’t wait to go back. I hope they restocked their magnets since I bought them all last time.

I’ve been sewing wristlets like crazy lately.

spark excitement April 24, 2007

Things have been busy lately. I’ve been trying to sew at least a few items a day but the weather has been so beautiful. I finally made it down to the giant market in the international district and spent the day wondering through the Japanese craft books. I got a bunch of supplies in the mail the other day which inspired me to sew for the afternoon. I also found a fabric outlet here and finally got some basic fabrics to start my fabric sign for my show.

I spent the weekend getting coffee and meeting some new people in my neighborhood, which has been great to finally know people here. I went to a thread show in Fremont and purchased the cutest dress ever created by human hands. I wish I had known about the show I would have liked to be involved. Maybe next time. After the show I ate the biggest greek salad filled with so many olives and probably at least a pound of feta cheese.

Today I plan to sew all morning then I have plans to meet someone for lunch. I’m also going to send away for some new price tags and later attempt to make my own rubber stamp.

jelly bean stomach April 17, 2007

I have been super busy sewing and sewing. Today was kind of a sad day for me.

I have a job interview tomorrow. I really hope I don’t sleep in. I got a bunch of boring tax stuff done today. I also got an awesome package in the mail from my sister including jelly beans, Hartley chips, a mini gnome, peanut butter eggs and a hilarous video of my family at Easter. I’ve been working on some new sewing designs. I made a bag today out of some old fabric.

I ate way too much strawberry frozen yogurt today, because it is beyond delicious. I spent most of my day sewing and now my back keeps making funny noises when I move. I went out today to do a little fabric shopping and to get new movies to watch. I’ve already made it through the first season of x files. I love the early 90’s outfits because nobody really looked good in those giant blazers.

My weekend has been pretty fun. I got a lot of work done for upcoming shows and designed some new stuff to get printed such as cotton cupcakes post it notes! Very exciting indeed. My Sunday plans are to go to a Japanese Craft gallery and to make a new fabric sign for my table. I hope the weather is nice tomorrow.

I made salsa the other night and some cookies. I have also been really into making things for the kitchen and home. I made some pot holders and coasters. This collage also shows the two Lotta Jansdotter books that I really really want. Thank goodness I have a job interview this week I’m terrible at resisting things. I also love that West Elm dresser but it is definitely out of the question cost wise.

I will be getting these post cards by her. I can’t resist. I mean they come in a wooden box.

all worth it April 12, 2007

Tonight I watched way too much Bravo Tv while doing 8 loads of laundry. The Top Design final episode was on and I wasn’t really surprised Matt won. I loved that show. I get really into those contest shows like project runway.

I walked around downtown today and bought some really great fabrics which makes me want to sew with them all night long. I found out today I can listen to NPR through my tv which is great since I don’t own a radio or drive a car anymore. I’m really excited to get my hair cut tomorrow I found a really great salon today and I liked everyone’s hair inside! Which I think is usually the best way to decide if you’ll like your haircut. You know if the person in charge of the scissors has a bleached perm you are in serious trouble.

lets hang out forever April 11, 2007

Tomorrow I have big plans. My to-do list is so long. I am going to get up early and have breakfast across the street at this little cafe and drink lots of coffee. I have so much to sew, mail,  and such. I really want to get my hair cut but I’m terrible at remembering to make an appointment before 5pm. I also want to do all my laundry.

So much to do.

I really need to get on the ball and start preparing for shows that I know will get here before I know it. I’m going to be at I Heart Rummage the first week of May, so if you live in Seattle come say hi. Which will be my very first solo craft show. gulp. The next one will be Renegade Craft Fair!! I am so excited to go and can’t believe I will be selling there. It will be a great mini vacation. I hope it gets warmer soon. I can’t wait for t-shirt weather.

I spent most of yesterday outside enjoying the weather. I walked around downtown and made a visit to Pike’s Market. I also shopped and browsed around some book stores. I had such a good time. I can’t wait until summer. I also got a part to my spinning wheel today that I had somehow lost during my move. I got my wheel back in working condition which makes me want to get back to spinning. A fiber store here in Seattle that sells Ashford wheels was kind enough to send me the parts. It really makes me want to take a ferry and go check out the store.

I have been sewing like crazy and have so many new items to update on the shop. I guess I will try and get that done tomorrow. I might attempt to get my Washington driver’s license if the line isn’t too long.

I was so proud that I cooked 2 meals today I thought I would photograph it. I made a cheese and egg breakfast sandwich on an onion bagel. For dinner I made a fancy toasted cheese on sourdough bread with a side of spice cake with cream cheese icing that I made the other day. Also a photo of my new quilt. I used a coupon on it. I love coupons!
