This weekend was full of fun things. On Friday I went out with friends to watch a hilarious improv show and eat some food. It was a great show and I had a fun night getting out of the house after a week of working. On Saturday afternoon I went down to the Folklife Festival and watched some bands and ate the best strawberry shortcake ever. I saw this band which had a member who played the washboard. I was going to go back down tonight to watch a line up of rockabilly bands but the weather was cold so I stayed in.

I have been working on about a thousand projects lately trying to prepare and have some new products to show off. I have been making stamps lately which is a lot of fun. I think I may have gotten a little carried away because I’ve been having some pain in my right hand. I think I might take a few days off from carving.

I went to a few thrift shops today and found a great black and white dress that fits perfectly for only $12. I love all the thrift stores here.

I really need to stop drinking coffee after a certain hour because I am not the least bit tired and it is close to 3am. Today I made a bunch of new stuff that I’m pretty excited about. I really want to get another work table to use for dying fabric and to use when I start stamping fabric. I think tomorrow I might purchase some fabric ink and a roller.

Today I hung some photos in my hallway and printed some laminated coasters to protect my plastic furniture.  haha

I also bought a great $11 vintage dress. I spent most of my evening watching season 2 of weeds, which is a hilarious show. I embroidered until my fingers were sore. Maybe a bath will make me tired. I leave you with a photo collage of my day. I bought some vintage flag and girl scout patches for $1. Also printed out a calender for the month of may because I really need one. The amount of fabric I own is a bit ridiculous.

I am terrible at sticking to a schedule. Whenever I don’t have to get up, I never do. I have started going to bed around 3am again. I think it has a little to do with the fact that I live alone and can be up at 2am with all the lights on and music playing. I was a little down this morning when I woke up in a chilly, dark apartment but thankfully the weather got sunny and warm by the afternoon.

I was busy sewing like a factory today and got some picture frames so I can start decorating my plain white walls. I’d like to paint but who knows how long I’ll live in this apartment. I want to live in as many places as I can over the next few years. I’d even love to live overseas for a year or two.

I watched Little Children today. I really think Patrick Wilson is a looker. I enjoyed the movie. There is a film festival starting in Seattle this weekend, I hope to go to at least a few.

I’m getting so excited about my trip home but am also thinking once I get there that I will not want to leave again. I hope I can spend as much time as possible in Lewistown (never thought I’d say that!) and hanging out with my family. I just want to get ice cream and hang out on the porch. I haven’t really been too homesick since relocating to Seattle but this week I’ve been thinking nonstop about the visit and it made me think of the countless things I miss.

For the first time in years I’ve been wearing shorts again. I really want these:

an announcement to make May 21, 2007

This was a pretty lazy weekend for me. I watched a marathon of the girls’ next door, which is a show I really enjoy. I would absolutley love to visit the playboy mansion. Maybe someday.

I managed to finally hang some shelves this weekend and a set of hooks. I still have 3 larger shelves to hang tomorrow but so far I’m loving that I was able to get them up by myself. My dad was kind enough to send me an awesome drill which I think will get lots of use in the next couple of years. If anyone needs anything hung up I’d be more than glad to do it.

I have been working on sewing like crazy the last few days and setting half of everything aside for Renegade.

I walked to the Japanese bookstore and they had a new Lotta Jansdotter book!! She is so inspiring and absolutley love her design work. I was beyond excited and I also got a book of old fashion postcards. I think I am going to frame the postcards and hang them in my kitchen.

blurry vision May 17, 2007

Today was spent sewing and packaging a few store orders. I also managed to lay on my couch watching a marathon of Project Runway season 3 while hugging a heating pad for 5 hours. During this very productive time I almost ate an entire tub of pico de gallo. I don’t really know if there could be a better way to spend an afternoon.

I plan to spend tomorrow making a trip to my secret post office that never has lines because it is hidden under a giant building and sending out lots of packages. I am also finally going to make a trip to the Seattle Art Museum which should be lots of fun. I  soaked a bunch of fabric in my new bubble jet so tomorrow when they are dry I will attempt to print some new designs I’ve been working on. I really hope it works.

Also this morning I quit my job and realized I can run a mile without stopping. Two very good things indeed because I’m pretty sure my former boss owned a Dalmatian fur coat and you never know when you’ll need to run away.

This weekend has been ok. I went to the movies for the first time in a while. Today was spent being lazy and hanging out at home. I went to the store today and got a really good dinner of crab bisque and bread and the best strawberries ever. I have been working a lot on the computer and trying to come up with some fabric designs. I can’t wait until my bubble jet comes in the mail so I can start printing and making new stuff.

Here is a really bad photo of some fabric I printed just to see how it would come out.

what did we just lose May 10, 2007

So far this week has been full of ups and downs. I have only been here 2 months and still sometimes I wish I was still back in Pennsylvania. I wish that I could just go back for a night and have dinner with my family and hug everyone. Lately the days have been a little stressful as I try to get used to all the changes that have happened in the last 6 months. Which is just about everything.

Things that have been helping with stress:

1. sunny warm days

2. cupcakes

3. cocktails

4. bad TV

5. design books

6. phone conversations at all times of the day

7. making plans

The weather here has been amazing and today I took some photos. I really need to photograph the whole city so I can show everyone. Maybe it will convince everyone I love to move here and life will be perfect.

In the distance you can almost see the mountains, they look like clouds.
This is the last hill on the way back to my apartment. The one that almost gives me a heart attack everyday. My apartment is the second building where you can kind of see the blurry little sign.

who would have thought May 3, 2007

Today I signed the papers to be a professional pet sitter. I start to work tomorrow which should be very exciting. I’m really happy to have such a flexible job. I’m also excited to get back to working. I have been sewing like a maniac lately. I’ve been finishing and pricing and getting everything ready for the show this Sunday. I am so ready to go and hopefully sell and have a great time.

I had a pretty busy day today including pet store visits, thrift shopping, a long talkative dinner with a friend and hours of sewing. I got my fabric for my table cloth and printed my new price tags tonight. Tomorrow I need to buy a folding chair, finish my felt sign, complete 8,765 sewing tasks, and walk dogs.

I got some really great presents in the mail today which made it an even better day. Things are good.

When I furnished my apartment I only had the chance to buy from one place because 1. I didn’t own a car 2. I need everything FAST.

I really love modern furniture and if money wasn’t t an option I would definitely order these:

I love this and would probably use it as a coffee table of some sort.
